Founded in 2013, Highveld Coal (Pty) Ltd which is based in Durban, South Africa, markets and supplies coal products, on behalf of Umthombo Coal, into the domestic market. Highveld Coal supplies nationally to paper mills SAPPI and Mondi, sugar mills Tongaat Huletts and Illovo, power utility Kelvin Power Station and steel giants Scor Metals and Highveld Steel.

Highveld Coal's primary focus is to establish long term relationships and contracts with producers and end users. Its' strengths are in-line supply whereby it implements excellent logistic procedures on the production site and at its' clients through stockpile management, utilizing a top logistical company for transportation and data management and analysis.

Jonathan has over 20 years experience trading commodities. Born in Durban, South Africa. Jonathan left Durban to form a successful clothing company in Hong Kong and also spent several years in China developing direct relationships with the factories.  In China he turned over $15million in the contract and clothing business. In 2001 after leaving China for the UK, he became sales director with a trading company in computer components which is where he met Julian Booth. Within two years he helped increase turnover from £28 million to in excess of £80 million.

In 2003 Jonathan left with Julian Booth to form their own IT trading company.  In 2007 after becoming aware of a shortage of cement in South Africa ahead of the 2010 World Cup, together they formed a new company ICC Commodities (UK) Ltd. In 2008 he started IPC Coal (Pty) Ltd.

In 2013, Jonathan established Highveld Coal in relationship to Umthombo.
